Already There (Casting Crowns) [WEEKLY DEVO]

LYRICS:
"From where I'm standing
Lord, it's so hard for me to see
Where this is going
And where You're leading me"
From our viewpoint, we can't see anything but what is currently going on. The future is completely out of reach. The future is in God's hands and in God's hands alone. This should be comforting for us to know this and rely on this truth, but it isn't to a lot of people because we like to know where life is going. We want to know the future. Even though God knows where our life is going, we also want to
know.
LYRICS:
"'Cause You're already there
You're already there
Standing at the end of my life
Waiting on the other side
And You're already there
You're already there"
God knows exactly where we are. Think about this: if God made us and even knows how many hairs are on our heads, then He knows EXACTLY what is going on in our lives. He still wants us to come to Him in our time of need, but we need to rely on the fact that what we tell God is not new information to Him. He knew about it from the beginning. He also knows what the future looks like. ONLY He knows where our lives are going. We think we know also. But we do not. We only predict. Close your eyes. Pretend you are at a parade with a younger sibling. The younger sibling wants to know exactly when Santa is coming. You cannot tell him when, but he keeps on asking you how long it will be until he sees Santa. You probably wish you could go up to the roof of a building and look down to see the whole parade. Doing this, you would be able to say "after two more bands, Santa will be there." This would probably satisfy the sibling.
That is God's viewpoint. He can see our lives. He can not only see and know everything that is going on in our lives right now, He can see EVERYTHING; past, present, and future. From the top point looking down, you would definitely be able to make wiser choices. But without the ability to do that, we must rely completely on the wisdom of God. We must ask God for wisdom on what choices to make in life. He knows what is best for us. He has the entire picture to look at, and we do not. God knows about all of our addictions, our fight with a friend, our sins. He knows what we feel. He knows our pain. He knows about all of our everyday struggles. He also knows where we stand. He knows if we want help with these, if we even want to talk to Him about these. He is also more than willing to talk to us. In Casting Crowns' song Praise You in This Storm, the lyrics state that life can be like a storm. It can be raining so hard that it is almost impossible to see anything. We may even bring ourselves to asking ourselves why we are even here. In these times, it can definitely be hard to see through the storm. God is already there. He is looking from the top-down viewpoint. He sees when the storm will calm down. He will calm the storm for us. He knows when He will do this.
